Hello... I will help you make a good bass sound... in fruityloops...
Weither you use wasp, slim synth or dx10 or a bass sample there are a few things you must know...
Bass is a melody by itself... it can do one of three things...
play along with the melody...
harmonize with the melody...
or
both... (for more complicated producers...)
now... we all know how the piano roll works... (if you don't I'll have that tip up later...) in the blocks you can make the note as long as possible... Good thing right..? no. good bass notes that hit really well are about 3 blocks long... if used with a kick it will extend the bass of the kick hit just enough that it sounds great but not long enough to sound out of place...
when making a bassline... if you sample... do it last. This will allow you to drop bass at precise moments and work the drums you've laid out and to the melody of the sample...
whatever you do, do not make a bassline when the bass is low... turn the bass note higher in the channel settings but going up 2 or 3 octaves (the same key though)...
Remember Bass is a note... it is an instrument... if you think about it like a short string or orch hit you'll get it... You just lay out the bass like you would a string line... it's the same thing for the most part... When you figure out what sounds best as far as the base go back to the channel setting and take it back down 2 or 3 octaves...
Most of the time when using WASP... you want to take it down one more octave to sound really good...
