Aside from artists who supposedly leak their own album..
Hows this shit still happening so often? Is it somebody in dude's crew, or a tech at the studio you're recording at? Isnt there some kind of software artists can use to lock all there shit up, theres gotta be cuz I dont see like Neptunes beats leakin left n right etc.

i think its more along the lines of when it gets pressed and distributed. theres also promo copies out there at this point in the album process. Individual songs usually get leaked from someone in the studio or someone close to the recording.
some magazines require artists to send them promos for album reviews months in advance. thats what sage francis said on his message board at least. to get any buzz for the album so that people actually care artists gotta send out mad promos to reviewers ever, then reviewers put the promos on the internet months before the release so by the time the album is released everyone's already downloaded it and no one cares anymore. its actually reallllly a really shitty system for the artists.
i would kill a muhfucka in my crew, or in my studio, if they leaked some my songs or beats.
on the real tho lupe fiasco got mad heated when his shit was leadked and put the album off like another 6 months to change almost 10 songs

I love it when movies on DVD for promotion get leaked... Then you get to watch high quality movie rips while it's out in theatres.
OMG it killed Slim Thug's sales, he had such a strong buzz building up down here cause he was going to be the first one of the Houston acts to go major, then everybody bootlegged his album, so he went back and redid it and lost his buzz. I dont blame him tho, but it's still weird that he signed to Star Trek/Geffen, when he probably coulda got himself a better deal with a more established company, I think the thought of working firsthand with Pharrell got the best of him.
