I dream of a Man Package

    no homo, but...

i would strip at a gay bar for a month if it meant i could have this setup as my own personal production setup.

    http://www.mercenary.com/man-package.html

gimme all that shit minus logic 8, plus cubase 5

this setup is so compact and top notch from start to finish its ridiculous.
    Welcome to reality.

lmao @ how similar that is to my setup. I was gonna go with the apogee setup but I'd need to throw down for the PTHD card. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that lol

I have that exact desk too, but with the 88key shelf. It's nice as hell. I love that desk. sliding the keyboard underneath saves so much space.

you can use the apogee setup without a pthd card.
you can get the xfirewire card to go in it instead.

Not with pro tools. Sucks. You know Digidesign.

I'd get all apogee if I had an HD setup tho. Fuck paying Digi for their over-priced audio equipment. I have thought about just getting the apogee shit and using the M-Audio Light bridge tho. Only reason I haven't is because all my gear connects digitally, so I don't need converters. The converters on the Liquid Channel and 4Pre are top notch. And so are the ones in the Air 15's. I won't need an apogee until I get a better 8 channel pre. The Digimax only has digital out and is only up to 48k. It sounds pretty good tho.

It's never the equipment, it's the person behind it.

how many platinum selling producers do you know that use a soundblaster card, and mix on koss headphones?

i understand the meaning behind what your trying to say, but honestly, its a completely bullshit cliche, because if you place a dope producer in a great mixing and creation environment, i gaurantee you that person will make something hotter than if he was to be in a bedroom, mixing on the soundblaster and the headphones.

If i put dr dre in a room with a 1ghz PC, with only FLstudio 3 installed, a casio keyboard, some iphone earbuds, and a computer mic... i gaurantee you... he would not make something as dope as he would if he was in his own studio.

WERD!! Alot of times its the sounds that inspire me as a producer and I don't get inspired by bullshit fruity sounds. I puke when I hear the Wasp. Sytrus was cool for 2 minutes. haha. I did have to produce for like 4 months using some earbuds tho so I can't say too much. But the mixes were FIRE for some reason, just must have started to learn the earbuds. lol.

Oh yeh. The setup. That shit is SICK!! I want like a 3 teir desk tho, with like a pull out drawer on top too like they got for keyboard/mouse. but I'd stick my lil mixer on that and have the motif in the middle with the big ass screen sittin about 3 feet away... lol. Apogee is the way to go. Just throw a Big Ben in that setup and you are golden. ProTools and Apogee... stupid nice. Not a big logic fan tho, guess it's cuz I havn't used it since logic 5. haha. the new ones look nice tho. no mac and no money. lol

Re: I dream of a Man Package

well all digital devices have internal clocks. A master clock just keeps them all in perfect sync because no 2 electronics are exactly alike. Now whether it's worth buying an external master clock or using one of the Apogee converters as a master clock is a completely different debate with no agreed upon answer lol

Re: I dream of a Man Package

Ide rather some JBL speakers, or mackie powered for flattest sound. Right now I'm stuck with a HT BD2 home theatre system lol, not the greatest for producing, excellent for movies.
That desk is fuckin classy, not a fan of the non weighted keys tho, and sadly I don't even know what the other boxes are lol.
Logic looks beautiful, always wanted to try,
I was going to take your advise Opey and go with pro tools, but I think cubase will suffice, a lot of feed says it's more virtual instrument friendly, and since that's all I ever use and never plan on working with bands or live. It has the same scoring capabilities as DIGI performer...another damn mac DAW this man said to invest in to:

    www.michaelplowman.com

^my inspiration, fuckin guy is from my small ass city in canada and is now in LA working doing cartoon scores. Anything is possible. I'll upload some pics soon.
