So i completly stopped exporting files

I stopped exporting files from Nuendo now... lol

I dont like the way the export engines render the sound. It kinda squishes mixes in a ugly way.

SO what i do now is go from my stereo buss out to the Alesis Masterlink

i buss it out all in 24bit 96khz, so, no dithering no nothing to effect the quality... then burn it to a cd and encode it with the hardware dithering within the masterlink....

point being... if you can afford to get a outboard cd burner that burns master disks... with a hard drive, then do so... because i didnt even realize how much of a difference it made until my exporting option started acting gay in Nuendo, and i shot it out to the masterlink just out of curiosity.

i think the next thing i want to invest in (after i get the RME fireface) is a DSP card. Probably that Duende from Solid State, or The new Focusrite joint that is basically a Liquid Channel without the mic preamps.

yea, its weird... i've tested it several times too, the difference between bussing out audio to hardware, and just bouncing tracks down...

i guess its a combination of the sound going through the convertors again, and going through the convertors of the masterlink that make it sound fatter... i guess thats the only word i can use to describe it.

it makes it easier to see how great a convertor box would be. I'm thinking on either a Lavry blue, a Lynx Aurora, or a Rosetta 200....

depends on what my budget looks like in the coming months.

yea, but realistically, im probably going to go with the duende.
